Mississippi Heat

It is another hot day in the sip. This kind of heat make you want to live right, hell can't be this hot. I am in process of getting ready for the back to school days. One thing about Rankin county, there are no head start programs in Flowood. That let's me know that I don't need to be living here. Head start is a program for low income children to get a head start on learning. I think the program is wonderful. Apparently the folk's (you know who) in Flowood don't think so. That is okay I will just make adjustments like I always do. It's funny how things are still seen in Mississippi as black and white. Black and white issues still exist but we don't want to think that or maybe some of us are in denial. It hasn't been that long ago when we were still fighting for our human rights. I guess some of us black folks have forgotten about that. We don't ever need to forget where we came from. I know that is so cliche be it is true. Today let us remember and appreciate where we came from and let us try to make the best of our struggles by helping and thinking of others'

Today is the day

Today is the day. I have to start this off like that because those words are attention grabbing. I am so eager to execute my new life plan. I know I will never have it all figured out but I got a plan that seem to be unbeatable. I hope following my dreams and keeping my schedule I will have the success I want in about five years. That is all about the struggle of being a black woman. You have to figure a way out of the struggle.

Where do I go from hereBlogItemURL>

Dear God it's me again, confused and utterly insane. I am just trying to make it in today's society. I can up with the idea of moving away from Mississippi but I had to come back. I worked three jobs and still nothing happened. My mom keeps telling me to go back to college and get a degree and then maybe I could go to law school. That all sound's great. To be honest though I cringe every time some one mentions going back to school. I don't know why. I owe the school money so that mean I would have to pay them money to get back in school. I just don't have that kind of money right now. On top of all of that I have a child to think of as well. I came up with the plan of going to hair school and just doing hair to make money while I go back to college to complete my degree. My mom thinks that is the craziest idea she had ever heard. I don't know what to do. I have to pray on it. I have to live for me and my kid and forget the rest. The word of the day is self- sufficient , that is what you have to be. You have to make decisions that will benefit yourself and your out come in life. You can't live for others. I learned that just today.

I can't belive this s%*t

I am completely sick of this s%*t. I work three jobs and I still got an eviction notice. My truck still got repossesed. What the f%*k is going on. Is it me. Is it Mississippi, I don't know. I work three jobs to live in an apartment that is to much in the first place. I am a black woman in Mississippi. Where do I stand a chance. You don't stand a chance in Mississippi. It is still the way it was 40 years ago. White people still run s%*t. They still take all the money they can and then they steal the rest. I don't know what we as people are going to do. We need to first and foremost educate ourselves and leave Mississippi. I was talking to a black woman today, and she was so upset with here job. She has an education and have been at her job 10 years. So why did she have to train her supervisor. Why wasn't she offered the d%*n job. Why when she spoke up about it at work she was seen as a crazy black woman with an attitude, That's what they call us. Well somebody need to get it out in the air and that is what I am here for. Why did the Seal Press turn down this aspiring author's book proposal. Other publisher's said it was great. You know why, Seal press didn't want the memoir of a struggling black woman. They want something about a fat white woman trying to lose weight, where is the interest in that. I want to here what a black woman has to say sometime. Another thing what the hell is going on with the TANF program. For those of you who don't now what that is Temporary Assistance For Needy Families. I heard from a struggling young lady the other day that she was told by human services that she had to volunteer 40 hours a week to be eliglble for tanf. I said what the F%*k is going on. This young lady needs help with her kid, yes, one kid and she can't get it. I helped her find a job immediatly. That's what I am here for to help my fellow sister's in the struggle.
